Outdoor escape games, city quests and scavenger hunts: how it works
Four things worth knowing before you pick a route.
01
The city is your game board
An outdoor escape game takes the mechanics of a classic escape room and plays them across a real neighbourhood. Your team gets a starting point and a mission — in an app or with a game master on the phone — and walks from landmark to landmark solving riddles tied to the actual streets, statues and hidden details around you. It is part escape room, part sightseeing tour, part treasure hunt, and every route doubles as a walk through the most interesting corners of Winterthur.
02
Any team, any pace
Unlike an indoor quest, there is no room capacity and no fixed time slot. Two of you can play a slow romantic route, or you can split 30 colleagues into rival teams on the same trail — which is why the format is the go-to pick for team building, birthdays, stag and hen parties and school groups. Most routes take 1.5–2.5 hours, you start whenever you like and pause for coffee whenever you want.
03
Per team — play any day
Prices are usually per team rather than per person, which makes outdoor quests one of the cheapest group activities in Winterthur — and tickets rarely expire, so you can book now and play any day. The games run in every season: on a rainy day just pick a route with more covered passages, or save the ticket for the weekend after.
04
Compare routes, then go
Every card on this page shows the route length, duration, price and player reviews. Wear comfortable shoes, bring a charged phone, and check the starting point before you set off — the city is already waiting.
